In the latest episode of the Imaginary Frenchman, I offer a brief recounting of the history of one of the glories of Paris: its cafés and brasseries.

Among the resources I used for this episode are Paris to the Moon by Adam Gopnik (terrific book!), Saint-Germain-des-Prés by John Baxter, Paris Café: The Select Crowd by Noël Riley Fitch & Rick Tulka, and the wonderful Around and About Paris guidebooks by Thirza Vallois.

This list of coffeehouses in present-day Paris will guide you for your next trip!

All music is free use. It includes "Jazz in Paris" and "Accordian."
