The end of 2019 will see the release of some of the best French films of the year in the United States.
Already in theaters is BY THE GRACE OF GOD, by François Ozon. It's based on true the story of a sex abuse scandal in Lyon.
Also in theaters now is SYNONYMS, about a young Israeli man who relocates to Paris. It won the Best Film award at the 2019 Berlin Film Festival.
ATLANTICS, which is a love story that takes place in Dakar, Senegal with fantasy elements, will play on Netflix later this month.
PORTRAIT OF A LADY ON FIRE is a period film that tells about a woman's attraction to the female artist who is painting her portrait. It opens in early December.
And last (for now) is LES MISÉRABLES, a tense police drama based on the riots that occurred in the Paris suburbs in 2005. It's France's entry into the International Film Oscar competition. The movie opens in early January and will eventually be shown on PRIME VIDEO.
